Opportunity
Part‑Time Senior Fire Protection Engineer – Bethesda, MD. Ideal for a seasoned professional with a robust background in fire protection engineering, especially with experience in Department of Defense (DoD) and Navy construction projects.
Responsibilities- Develop and review fire protection system designs in accordance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
- Perform hydraulic calculations and analyses for fire protection systems.
- Ensure all designs and installations comply with OPNAVINST 11320.23G, NFPA standards, and other relevant fire protection codes.
- Stay updated on changes in fire protection regulations and codes.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate fire protection systems into overall project plans for Navy infrastructure and buildings.
- Provide technical support and guidance during installation and commissioning phases.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and drawings in compliance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
- Maintain accurate records of all fire protection system designs and modifications.
- Offer expert advice on fire protection strategies and solutions to internal and external stakeholders, including Navy personnel.
- Develop and deliver training programs for Navy personnel on fire safety and protection in accordance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
Required:
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection.
- Degree in Fire Protection Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in fire protection engineering.
- Strong understanding of fire protection codes and standards, including OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Desired:
- Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting software.
- Knowledge of hydraulic modeling software (e.g., Hydraflow, Flow Master).
- Previous experience in a similar role within the Navy or supporting Navy infrastructure and buildings.

Pay RangeThe proposed salary range for this position is: $103,800 – $218,100.
