Overview
Generator/ATS Mechanic - 1st Shift role at J&J Worldwide Services. This position services standby generators and requires self-motivation with 5 to 10 years of in-the-field generator repair experience.
Responsibilities focus on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of standby generators, with emphasis on routine engine maintenance and inventory management.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on all makes of generators
- Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify all components of the generator, engine and switch gear
- Repair, service and maintain all makes and models of standby generators
- Conduct start-ups, preventative maintenance, service and load bank tests
- Maintain and repair automatic transfer switches; work on a variety of commercial/industrial customer sites
- Troubleshoot generator components including alternators, wiring harnesses, safety devices, shutdown switches, and battery systems
- Work on common standby generator brands such as Cummins, Kohler, Generac, Briggs and Stratton
- Perform administrative duties as related to role (meeting all requirements)
- Meet requirements for certifications
- 1 - 3 years EPG/Electronics and/or Diesel Engine Repair experience or Technical degree a plus
- Positive interface with service writers, foreman, parts department and customers
- A valid driver’s license is required
- Must be willing to work alternate shifts as required to support the mission
- Generator Technician: 5 years (Preferred)
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive arm extensions
- Occasional exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, chemicals, etc., with typical safety hazards such as cuts or bruises
- Must be able to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain NAC/LAC clearance after hire
- General experience in generator repair and maintenance; 5 to 10 years in-the-field experience preferred
- Ability to troubleshoot, repair and perform routine engine maintenance (oil, filters, spark plugs, etc.)
- Strong organization to maintain inventory and manage time effectively
- Certifications and meeting all required qualifications for the role
- A valid driver’s license is required
