Overview

Generator/ATS Mechanic - 1st Shift role at J&J Worldwide Services. This position services standby generators and requires self-motivation with 5 to 10 years of in-the-field generator repair experience.

Responsibilities focus on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of standby generators, with emphasis on routine engine maintenance and inventory management.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on all makes of generators
  • Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify all components of the generator, engine and switch gear
  • Repair, service and maintain all makes and models of standby generators
  • Conduct start-ups, preventative maintenance, service and load bank tests
  • Maintain and repair automatic transfer switches; work on a variety of commercial/industrial customer sites
  • Troubleshoot generator components including alternators, wiring harnesses, safety devices, shutdown switches, and battery systems
  • Work on common standby generator brands such as Cummins, Kohler, Generac, Briggs and Stratton
  • Perform administrative duties as related to role (meeting all requirements)
  • Meet requirements for certifications
  • 1 - 3 years EPG/Electronics and/or Diesel Engine Repair experience or Technical degree a plus
  • Positive interface with service writers, foreman, parts department and customers
  • A valid driver’s license is required
  • Must be willing to work alternate shifts as required to support the mission
Experience
  • Generator Technician: 5 years (Preferred)
Work Environment
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive arm extensions
  • Occasional exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, chemicals, etc., with typical safety hazards such as cuts or bruises
  • Must be able to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain NAC/LAC clearance after hire
Qualifications
  • General experience in generator repair and maintenance; 5 to 10 years in-the-field experience preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and perform routine engine maintenance (oil, filters, spark plugs, etc.)
  • Strong organization to maintain inventory and manage time effectively
  • Certifications and meeting all required qualifications for the role
  • A valid driver’s license is required
