Stone Ridge is seeking a Full time Upper School Science Teacher to begin in August 2026.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre‑Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. The Upper School Science Teacher is responsible for teaching in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. The desired candidate will:
- possess strong depth of knowledge in a discipline subject area and teaches an introductory or advanced biology course and one or more other electives to be determined.
- work closely with colleagues in the Science Department and throughout the Upper School.
- create and update plans for content, quality, and continuity of curriculum.
- actively collaborates with Learning Strategists, Librarians, Educational Technologists, and the counseling staff to develop strategies to support all students.
- attends all faculty and employee meetings and maintains good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents’ inquiries.
- teaches upper level biology courses that emphasize inquiry-based labs and preferably an anatomy and physiology or STEAM course and possesses a degree in one of the subject areas or a related field.
- has a track record of successful teaching, a capacity for working with a range of learning abilities, and experience integrating appropriate educational technologies into her/his teaching.
- is familiar with a STEAM approach to curriculum, the Next Generation Science Standards for education, and Understanding by Design.
- demonstrates a desire to innovate, strong writing and communication skills, a capacity for organization and follow-through, creativity, and flexibility.
Compensation includes salary commensurate with experience.
