Overview
Stone Ridge is seeking an Upper School Learning Specialist Teacher to begin in August 2026.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. With over 780 students, and rooted in the Goals of Sacred Heart education, Stone Ridge inspires young women to lead and serve, through lives of purpose that integrate faith, intellect, community, social action, and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.
Responsibilities- Teach First Academic Studies Skills class
- Identify students who might be experiencing academic difficulties and work with teachers on how to best assist those students.
- Serve as a member of the Student Support Team
- Make referrals for Psycho-Educational testing
- Coordinate standardized testing accommodations with students, parents and the College Board
- Work with teachers to develop in-class support structures for students who are experiencing academic difficulties
- Coordinate with Middle School administrators and Learning Specialists on assisting with the transition into the Upper School for the students who have learning issues.
- Meet individually with students as needed
- Coordinate College Board and ACT test relationship
- Has experience providing learning support services to Upper School aged students
- Demonstrates knowledge of pedagogy and instruction as well as flexibility and strong organization skills.
- Works well with and enjoys high school aged students
- MA degree in Education/Special Education
- Experience in independent, charter, public and/or Catholic schools
