FY26:
Long-Term Substitute Teacher, Special Education, Grade 2, Burning Tree ES, 1.0 FTE — Montgomery County Public Schools. Under direction of the school principal and special education supervisor, the special education teacher provides direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities and collaborates with the general education teacher. Monitors and evaluates outcomes for students with disabilities. Assists in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEP).

Monday-Friday 8:45 am - 4:15 pm. Second Grade Learning Center position. Wage range: $20.29 - $35.84 per hour. This position does not include benefits.

Burning Tree Elementary School, Bethesda.
Schedule:
Full-time. Working months: 10. Shift: Day.
- Bachelors degree in special education. Fluent in learning theory, differentiated instruction, developmental reading, child development, applied behavior analysis, and assessment. Experience with Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA 2015), Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA 2004), and state and federal policies and procedures related to special education. Ability to provide instructional support. Works well with students with disabilities, teachers, and parents/guardians of students with disabilities.
Ability to adapt instructional programs and materials. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of and the ability to apply the six performance standards established for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Teacher Professional Growth System (TPGS). - Certificate:
Meets Maryland State Department of Education certification requirements for Standard Professional Certification I (SPC I) in special education. Certification in a content area is desirable. - Education/Training/
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in special education; fluency in learning theory, differentiated instruction, developmental reading, child development, applied behavior analysis, and assessment; student teaching in the area of exceptionality or two years teaching experience at the elementary level. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Provide direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities and collaborate with the general education teacher.
- Monitor and evaluate outcomes for students with disabilities. Assist in the development of IEPs.
- Attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCPS agreement. Support behavioral interventions as required, including courses in behavioral management and nonviolent crisis interventions.
