Summer Internship 2026 – Safety Intern

The Occupational Health & Safety Engineer Intern will have the opportunity to observe and participate in all aspects of OH&S management that are typically encountered in the construction workplace.

• Provide support to safety managers in the areas of hazard identification and controls, creating and delivering site safety orientations, coaching and mentoring, reviewing safety-related documentation and providing feedback, performing field inspections, and creating reports.
• Develop an overall understanding of the various managerial processes, administrative requirements, and safety-related administration at both the construction site and the corporate headquarters.
• Assist safety manager with document control, submittals, meeting minutes, inspection reports, observations, and incident investigations using the company project management software.
• Active involvement in day-to-day communication with Project Teams, Subcontractors, Architects, Engineers, Inspectors, and Owners.
• Research and gather statistics and related data for periodic and special one-time reports.
• Gain an understanding of advanced technology and software to complete projects as assigned.

• Be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing degrees in Occupational Health, Safety, & Environment, or a related field.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
• Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
• Ability to identify areas of improvement and uphold high-quality standards.
• Strong demonstration of exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Must maintain a professional appearance at all times consistent with company standards.
• Demonstrate reliability and abide by the company attendance policy.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook.

In accordance with the Maryland Wage Transparency Law, the hourly range for this position is: $19.00 - $23.00.

Individuals should be able to reach above and below, stoop and bend, sit, walk, and stand. Individuals should also be able to lift, carry and/or move items up to 50 lbs. May be exposed to heavy machinery/equipment, hazardous chemicals and extreme weather conditions. Minimum of 40 hours per week required. Work hours will vary depending on project specifications and may involve overtime, weekends and night work.
