Accounting Manager

Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering with a well-established and growing construction company to find an Accounting Manager. This hands‑on role oversees day‑to‑day accounting operations, partners with leadership to provide financial insights, and helps ensure accurate reporting and operational efficiency. • Oversee core accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, job costing, and financial reporting
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close cycles, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Analyze financial statements, track variances, and prepare forecasts to support decision‑making
• Monitor budgets and project costs, ensuring proper allocation and alignment with contracts
• Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering collaboration and professional growth
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures
• Support audits, tax filings, and compliance with accounting standards
• Identify opportunities to optimize accounting systems and processes

• 8+ years of accounting experience, including leadership or senior‑level exposure
• Strong understanding of GAAP and construction accounting practices (WIP, percentage‑of‑completion, AIA billing, bonding)
• Hands‑on experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Proven ability to lead a small team in a collaborative environment
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software
