Accounting Manager

Chesapeake Search Partners is working with a growing construction-focused organization to find an Accounting Manager. This hands‑on role manages daily accounting functions while partnering with leadership to provide financial insights and ensure operational accuracy.

• Oversee all core accounting activities, including AP, AR, payroll, job costing, and financial reporting
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close cycles, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Analyze financial statements, track variances, and prepare forecasts to support decision‑making
• Monitor budgets and project costs, ensuring proper allocation and alignment with contracts
• Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering development and strong collaboration
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures
• Support audits, tax filings, and compliance with accounting standards
• Improve and optimize accounting systems and processes

• 8+ years of accounting experience, with leadership or senior‑level exposure
• Strong understanding of GAAP and construction accounting practices (WIP, percentage‑of‑completion, AIA billing, bonding)
• Hands‑on experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Proven ability to lead a small team in a collaborative environment
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software
