Job Description:
Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care and to achieve the best possible patient outcome. Serves as a resource person when the situation requires.
Applies age-specific considerations and cultural diversity when rendering patient care. Is responsible for care of all patients from birth to elderly.
Responsibilities:
Delivery of patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Direct and coordinate nursing care based on standards.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide quality care.
Serve as a resource person in situations requiring expertise.
Apply age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care.
Maintain competencies for the position.
Supervise unit secretaries and PCTs in collaboration with the Charge Nurse.
Requirements:
Completed a program of education in nursing from an NLN approved institution.
Licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse.
Current BLS certification.
Preferred one year experience in a health care setting as a Registered Nurse.
Proficient oral and written communication skills.
Cognitive and technical knowledge required for care management.
Basic EKG and nursing skills.
Ability to administer treatments and medications.
Ability to interpret diagnostic tests and provide education.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to work in a patient care setting.
Theoretical knowledge of nursing process, care management, and continuity of care.
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions.
