The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization, serving nearly 30,000 people living across rural, southwest Alaska in villages with populations from about 10 to more than 1,000. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. Answers scheduling telephones. Schedules, cancels or reschedules patient appointments using the Scheduling Guidelines or routes the calls to appropriate department or party in a professional manner. Shadow’s and assists with dental procedures, and assists in general clinic function. Assists the Admin team in various office duties as assigned.

Note:

All students will be required to follow standard new hire onboarding including fingerprinting and criminal background checks.

• Minimum Education:
  
  16+ years old, junior/senior, must be enrolled in LKSD WBL class, HS transcripts
• Minimum Experience:
  
  One year experience in a position that requires dealing with the public preferred. Previous switchboard experience preferred. Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• License, Certification, Registration:
  None required
• Equipment/Tools:
  Computer, Multiline telephone system, copy/print/scan machine and other general office equipment.
• Specialized Knowledge and
  
  Skills:
  
  Able to communicate with easy medical terms for patients. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Yup’ik speaker preferred.
