Overview

The recruitment is exempt from the hiring freeze (Administrative Order 358).

This recruitment is open to Alaska Residents only. Applicants must meet Alaska Residency Requirements in order to be considered for employment at this time.

What you will be doing

As an Administrative Assistant I, you will perform a wide range of technical and administrative duties in support of the Alaska State Troopers for C Detachment's Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region. This position provides support for the Bethel post and the C Detachment Deputy Commander in the areas of payroll, procurement, finance, human resources, case management, and judicial services. You will learn a variety of skills and gain a broad working knowledge of the Division of Alaska State Troopers to prepare you for promotional opportunities.

This position is located and works full-time out of the Alaska State Trooper post located in Bethel, Alaska. The work environment is friendly, team oriented and productive.

What we are looking for
  • Excellent customer service skills, demonstrating professional and friendly communication while handling a wide range of situations and demographics.
  • Strong written, verbal, and detail-oriented communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information.
  • Attention to detail while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment to ensure accurately entering data into multiple systems, reviewing documents, processing and routing court paperwork and handling payments.
  • Experience and skill with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Time management skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities from several sources while working independently with minimal supervision.

The organization may provide the following as part of the application guidance: six months of advanced clerical experience (examples include Office Assistant 2, Accounting Clerk, or similar roles) or six months of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience. (Three semester or four quarter hours of post-secondary education equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education equal one month.)
