Overview

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:As an Administrative Assistant I, you will perform a wide range of technical and administrative duties in support of the Alaska State Troopers for C Detachment's Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region. This position provides support for the Bethel post and the C Detachment Deputy Commander in the areas of payroll, procurement, finance, human resources, case management, and judicial services. In this position, you will learn a variety of skills and a broad working knowledge of the Division of Alaska State Troopers that will prepare you for many promotional opportunities.

THEWORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT:
This position is located and works full-time out of the Alaska State Trooper post located in Bethel, Alaska. The work environment is friendly, team oriented and productive.

- Strong written, verbal, and detail-oriented communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information.
- Attention to detail while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment to ensure accurately entering data into multiple systems, reviewing documents, processing and routing court paperwork and handling payments.
- Experience and skill with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Time management skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities from several sources while working independently with minimal supervision.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCESix months of advanced clerical experience. This experience includes work such as Office Assistant 2, Accounting Clerk, and similar classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.
OR
Six months of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience. (Three semester or four quarter hours of post-secondary education are equal to one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education are equal to one month of experience.)
Special NoteExamples of advanced clerical experience include:
- Reviewing complex or questionable applications or documents and searching files and regulations to determine accuracy of information to clarify applicant status; using judgment in applying criteria, rules, regulations, and policies; providing information to organizational unit staff on administrative processes and procedures; tracking expenditures; and completing necessary administrative paperwork according to regulations.
