Auto Body Technician
Gerber Collision & Glass, one of the largest collision repair companies in North America with over $3 billion in sales and more than 1,000 locations, invites applications for an Auto Body Technician.
The Auto Body Technician’s primary responsibility is to provide an exceptional customer experience through meticulous assessment and quality repair of each vehicle, restoring it to pre‑accident condition. The technician disassembles, repairs, reassembles vehicles, and works in alignment with all team members to achieve repair facility KPIs while serving as a Brand Ambassador of The Boyd Group.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
- Plan the repair work necessary and prepare cost estimates for customers. Use various tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
- Hammers out dents, dimples, and other minor body damage when possible; mix and apply filler resins to repair dents when other methods are not feasible.
- Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
- Remove damaged sections of vehicles and replace them with new or aftermarket parts. Replace or repair glass and windshields as needed.
- Replace or repair interior parts as required.
- Weld and otherwise attach or fit parts into place, then prepare and repaint vehicles with factory‑specified paint or an agreed‑upon equivalent.
- Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines and ensure all work has been executed correctly by inspecting vehicles after repair.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3‑year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other repairers within an auto body shop.
- Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
- Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade.
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
$20.00 – $29.00 Flat Rate. Flat Rate Compensation is a performance‑based structure directly tied to turned hours, also referred to as booked hours. If total compensation in a pay period is less than minimum wage, clocked hours will be calculated with a guarantee of applicable local or state minimum wage, whichever is greater.
Compensation is commensurate with skill, education and experience. This position may also be eligible for bonus opportunities tied to individual or business initiatives.
