Position Overview

The Nuclear Fuels Engineer will engage in advanced technical problem‑solving in support of Clean Energy Center (CEC) operations. This role involves making key technical decisions and requires a solid understanding of engineering principles as well as detailed knowledge of industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver expert technical knowledge to develop, manage, and execute engineering analyses and programs.
  • Engage directly in identifying and resolving equipment and system issues through technical expertise and consultation.
  • Oversee complete task management for engineering challenges.
  • Perform engineering and technical tasks as assigned, applying general engineering principles.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work while adhering to standard design criteria and codes during plan and specification preparations.
  • Conduct independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses to support technical and regulatory projects.
  • Propose innovative concepts and techniques aimed at enhancing performance, streamlining operations, reducing expenses, or complying with regulatory changes.
  • Fulfill other job assignments and responsibilities as directed by management or according to company policy, including emergency response, departmental coverage, call‑outs, and support for outage activities outside the department.
Minimum Qualifications
  • For Entry‑Level E01 Engineer:
    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Nuclear).
  • Ability to meet minimum access or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and successfully pass a medical examination and/or testing related to position duties.
  • For Mid‑Level E02 Engineer:
    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Nuclear) with at least 2 years of nuclear or related engineering experience.
  • Ability to meet minimum access or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and successfully pass a medical examination and/or testing related to position duties.
  • For Senior E03 Engineer:
    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Nuclear) with 5 years of experience in the nuclear field or relevant engineering experience.
  • Ability to meet minimum access or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and successfully pass a medical examination and/or testing related to position duties.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with system and sub‑channel codes like RETRAN and VIPRE.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python).
  • Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license or Qualified Nuclear Engineer (QNE) qualification.
  • Advanced degree or relevant coursework.
