Part Time Worship Leader Music Ministry Position

Berwyn United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time Worship Leader to provide strong musical and spiritual leadership in shaping Christ-centered, participatory worship.

We are a welcoming, relational congregation with a clear vision for growth and deeper discipleship. While we are currently modest in size, we are building toward a vibrant and engaging worship life, and this role offers the opportunity to help shape that future.

We are looking for a leader who brings both musical excellence and spiritual depth — someone with a servant’s heart and a growing relationship with Jesus Christ who can guide the congregation in worship that bridges traditional Methodist heritage with thoughtful contemporary expression.

• Plan and lead music for weekly Sunday worship services
• Select songs that align with sermon themes, the liturgical calendar, and the theological vision of the church
• Lead with strong vocal and instrumental ability while encouraging active congregational participation
• Introduce worship elements with clarity, warmth, and theological awareness
• Model authentic spiritual engagement from the platform
• Meet regularly with the Pastor to coordinate service themes and flow
• Contribute creatively to the overall worship experience
• Assist in planning and leading seasonal services (Advent, Christmas Eve, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, etc.)
• Communicate clearly with volunteers and church leadership

• Organize and lead rehearsals as needed
• Ensure musical arrangements are accessible and well-prepared
• Maintain musical excellence appropriate to the congregation’s context

• Prepare slides/lyrics for worship services
• Maintain CCLI reporting and music licensing compliance
• Coordinate basic worship technology (sound, slides, livestream collaboration as needed)
• Steward music ministry resources responsibly

• A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ

• Commitment to creating worship environments where all are welcomed and invited into participation

• Proficiency in piano or guitar preferred
• Ability to lead both traditional hymns and contemporary worship songs
• Ability to teach new music to a congregation
• Experience leading in a structured worship setting preferred

• Formal musical and/or theological training
• Familiarity with Wesleyan/Methodist theology
• Basic knowledge of worship technology (sound systems, presentation software, live streaming)
