Overview
80 % position at the University of Bern, Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, available at the earliest from April 1, 2026, for a duration of 5 years with a possible extension. The position is embedded within the solid-state analysis unit headed by PD Dr. Simon Grabowsky and is announced as an 80% position with a salary according to the rank of a technician.
Responsibilities- Conduct measurements on a scanning electron microscope for imaging of surfaces and with an energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy extension for elemental analysis.
- Maintain the electron microscope and interact with internal and external customers as part of the unit’s service.
- Perform powder X-ray diffraction measurements and, to a smaller extent, thermoanalysis and other general services to the department.
- Applicants must have completed a technician apprenticeship or possess an equivalent qualification.
- Some previous experience with handling an electron microscope is important.
- Additional experience with powder X-ray diffraction is beneficial.
- Fluent in English with good oral and written communication skills, and proficiency in handling computer software.
