Data Engineer

My client in Bern is scaling a modern data platform and is hiring a Data Engineer to help connect new data sources quickly and precisely. You will bring data into the raw layer within minutes through fully automated, versioned, and continuously monitored pipelines.

This is an end to end ownership role across data sourcing and onboarding, with a strong focus on automation, reliability, and pragmatic delivery.

• Own data source onboarding from first connection through stable production loading
• Build and maintain automated, versioned ingestion pipelines that land data in the raw layer within minutes
• Automate source onboarding using Git and template driven workflows (YAML and Jinja)
• Implement and maintain integrations across JDBC, API, and file based sources
• Run CI and CD via Azure Dev Ops, including Python based deployments, tests, and promotion jobs
• Build automated schema drift checks that compare source and vault structures and trigger pull requests or alerts
• Improve and expand the ingestion template library to increase speed and consistency
• Keep loading processes stable through monitoring, troubleshooting, and iterative improvements
• Integrate data quality checks directly into pipelines
• Support junior engineers with Git standards and best practices

• Strong Python skills, and confidence writing production ready ingestion and automation code
• Strong database fundamentals and hands on experience working with structured data
• Comfortable designing, building, and maintaining robust ingestion frameworks end to end
• Experience with automated testing, CI and CD, and operational monitoring

• Experience with DLT, dbt, Snowflake
• Familiarity with Data Vault loading patterns

• Proactive and highly autonomous, you spot problems early and take ownership without being asked
• No ego, get stuff done mindset, you collaborate pragmatically and keep delivery moving
• Clear communicator who works well through iteration and feedback
