Job descriptionYou are responsible for supporting and maintaining the Swatch Group's global network infrastructure. This role involves implementing network solutions, managing operational requests, and ensuring the performance, reliability, and security of network systems. As a senior expert, you will handle complex operational challenges, act as a key escalation point for critical network incidents and ensure high availability across all network layers. You collaborate closely with internal teams and international stakeholders, mentor junior engineers, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the network operations landscape.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain core network infrastructure (routers, switches, internal firewalls, WLANs)
- Monitor and ensure the performance, availability, and security of network systems
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex network incidents and operational challenges (1st and 2nd level support)
- Collaborate with the Network Engineering and Architecture teams to implement and enforce best practices and maintain accurate and comprehensive network documentation and diagrams
- Work closely with local and international IT teams to ensure operational alignment and service continuity
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across network operations and automation
- Assume Engineer on Duty responsibilities according to the planned schedule and role description
- Deep expertise in enterprise networking technologies (Cisco, Fortinet, Riverbed)
- Strong experience with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), switching, and network segmentation; proficiency in managing WAN, LAN, and WLAN environments
- Hands‑on experience with SIEM platforms (Splunk)
- Familiarity with F5 BIG‑IP or similar load‑balancing and application delivery technologies; service‑oriented with customer focus
- Solid grasp of IPv4/IPv6, QoS, VLANs, and multicast technologies
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science
- 5 years of relevant operational experience is anticipated for this role
- Certifications such as Cisco CCNP, Azure Network Engineer Associate, Fortinet, or CompTIA Network+ are expected
- Fluent in French, German, or English
- Additional languages are welcome – we have 29 so far in the company; if you wish to add the 30th, you pretty much know what to do
