Overview
The Space Research and Planetology Division at the University of Bern researches the formation and evolution of our solar system. The team is internationally recognised for its achievements and cooperates in numerous space missions with the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA. Space research is highly competitive and only the best instruments have the opportunity to fly on a mission.
Tasks- System and sub‑system testing, verification, validation
- Maintaining the required documentation (assembly logs, test reports etc.)
- Contribution to the instrument level ground support equipment
- Support for development of scripting languages software (basic Linux knowledge, Python…)
- Support for electronics hardware development incl. support for prototyping
- Support for integration, EMC and environment tests as well as support for building of test interfaces (soldering, cable manufacturing)
- Management of flight‑electronics components as well as maintenance of libraries, schematics and layouts (Altium)
- Handling of space instruments (according ESD standards and in a ISO 5 cleanroom environment)
- Experience in testing of electronics systems and sub‑systems as an electronics technician or technical HF
- Familiarity with the space environment and knowledge of the ECSS standards would be an advantage
- Good spoken and written knowledge of English is required
- German is an advantage
- A highly motivated, international team
- Central located workplace at ExWi, Sidlerstrasse 5, 3012 Bern
- Salary range determined in accordance with the personnel regulations of the Canton of Bern
- Position available immediately or upon negotiation, initial period one year with option of extension
