OverviewOur client is a technology-driven engineering organisation looking for an experienced System Architect Embedded SoC to lead the design and development of advanced embedded SoC platforms. The role combines modern C++ software development with FPGA-based hardware design and focuses on high-performance, real-time, and scalable systems.
You will work end-to-end on system architecture, from requirements definition and interface design through to embedded software implementation and close hardware software co-design. This is a senior, hands-on role with real architectural ownership in a high-quality engineering environment.
Technical Scope- Embedded systems and SoC platforms
- FPGA-accelerated computing
- High-reliability and performance-critical systems
- Industrial, automotive, aerospace, or comparable domains
Design and define complete embedded SoC system architectures
Develop embedded software using modern C++ standards C++17 or C++20
Architect and implement hardware software interfaces between CPU and FPGA logic
Design and implement complex FPGA architectures using VHDL
Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and systems engineers
Define system requirements, interfaces, and technical documentation
Ensure real-time performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability
Support integration, testing, and system-level validation
Must-Have Requirements- Completed university degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a comparable discipline
- Expert-level experience programming microcontrollers and CPUs such as ARM or RISC-V using modern C++
- Strong embedded C++ background including
- In-depth, hands-on experience with VHDL and modern FPGA families
- Proven experience in hardware software co-design and defining clean, robust interfaces
- Practical experience with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, and Ethernet
- Experience working with real-time operating systems and bus systems
- Embedded Linux development experience using Git
- Strong ability to document complex systems clearly using UML or architectural specifications
- Independent, structured working style with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Very good German at negotiation level
- Basic working English
- Experience defining system-level architecture guidelines and coding standards
- Knowledge of verification strategies including software unit testing and Hardware-in-the-Loop simulations
- Experience designing FPGA-based hardware accelerators and high-performance data paths
- Performance optimisation experience in resource-constrained embedded environments
- Background in innovative or first-of-its-kind embedded products
- Strong collaboration skills within interdisciplinary hardware and software teams
