Benefits Specialist

Position OverviewThe Benefits Specialist is a key member of the People & Culture team, responsible for administering and supporting all employee benefits and retirement programs. This role manages day-to-day benefits operations, ensures data accuracy and compliance, and serves as a primary resource for employee benefit inquiries. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Administer daily operations of employee benefit programs, including enrollments, life event changes, and terminations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to coverage, claims, and vendor matters
- Support the annual open enrollment process, including preparation of materials and employee information sessions
- Maintain, reconcile, and audit benefits data within HRIS/payroll systems and vendor invoices
- Assist with administration of leave programs, including FMLA, short- and long-term disability, and applicable state leave programs
- Support workers’ compensation processes, including injury reporting and OSHA compliance
- Act as liaison between the organization and insurance brokers or carriers to resolve benefits-related issues
- Assist with annual audits, including workers’ compensation and retirement plan audits
- Perform monthly reconciliation of benefit invoices
- 2+ years of benefits administration experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively
- Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Paycor or similar platforms) preferred
