Boeing Research & Technology is seeking a Manufacturing Research and Development Engineer to support the Berkeley, Missouri facility. We are looking for a broad range of experience, including Entry, Associate or Mid-Level Engineers.

On the  &T team, we solve challenging material & process issues for production aircraft hardware. This position supports the Boeing Defense, Space & Security division through the application of engineering principles for the design, fabrication, and installation of equipment and processes. Boeing Research & Technology engineers work closely with production operations, finance, and equipment suppliers to provide cost effective solutions to improve the capacity, quality, and safety of Boeing’s operations.

Learn from experienced mentors to support design & fabrication of composite and metal parts on our current or future aircraft. Write equipment specifications and coordinate with technicians and senior engineers throughout. Analyze production processes to sort through complex challenges and diagnose the root cause of problems, and then be the one to develop and implement the solution.

• Assists with definition of requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of Boeing products
• Drafts engineering specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes
• Assists in evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to business needs
• Assists with development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes to meet requirements. Performs routine tests and audits to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements
• Conducts routine analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes
• Assists in implementing corrective and preventive actions
• Develops computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements
• Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements. Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design, and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
• Level 1 – Bachelor’s degree
• Level 2 – Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years’ experience or Master’s
• Level 3 – Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ experience or Master’s & 3+ years
