Professor Daniel Stark's research group is located in the Astronomy Department at UC Berkeley. The group studies galaxies at high redshift (and analogs in the local universe) with observational facilities including JWST, Keck, HST, and ALMA.
The Successful Applicant Will Work With Professor Daniel Stark On Observational Projects Associated With Galaxy Formation And Reionization Using Data From JWST, Keck, And ALMA. In particular, the Successful Applicant Will:
- Research the reduction and analysis of observations of galaxies with a variety of facilities (i.e., JWST, Keck).
- Write first author and co-author publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Help design future observational programs with JWST, Keck, and other facilities.
- Attend professional conferences on relevant topics and give talks on research done in collaboration with Professor Stark.

QualificationsBasic qualifications (required at time of application):
PhD or equivalent international degree, or enrolled in a PhD or equivalent international degree granting program.
PhD or equivalent international degree.
No more than three years of post‑degree research experience.
A PhD or equivalent international degree in Astronomy or Astrophysics.
Experience in:
- High redshift galaxy spectroscopy with JWST and Keck.
- Lyman alpha spectroscopy.
- Imaging analysis and galaxy SED fitting with JWST.
- Broad background in related fields.
