About the Job
Berkeley Animal Hospital is a privately owned veterinary hospital on San Pablo between Ashby and University Avenue. We are seeking a full-time or part-time Kennel Assistant to join our team of caring and knowledgeable veterinary professionals.
We are a newly built facility that is growing every day. We have excellent opportunities for growth in the veterinary field and we are willing to train the right candidate.

- Maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with patients, clients, and coworkers.
- Maintain proper documentation and medical records as required by law.
- Comfortable using multiple digital platforms (i.e., Windows, Gmail, and Google Drive). Our software is Neo, a cloud platform, and we will train you if you have not used this program before.
- Pay close attention to details and follow instructions well.
- Provide compassionate care to every patient; required to physically interact with both cats and dogs.
- Restock supplies and upkeep the treatment area and exam rooms.
- Prepare workstations for DVM and RVT for all procedures (i.e., patient preparation, procedure preparation, and sterilization of all surgical instruments).
- Ability to follow treatment plans and administer medications.
- Ability to perform grooming tasks, including nail trims and shaving for surgical procedures.
- Knowledge of kennel procedures and strict disease control in the hospital.
- Sanitizing/disinfection of kennels, replacing bedding, and washing and folding laundry.
- Handling and caring for animals to perform work in a humane and safe manner.
- Keeping the hospital clean and orderly.
- High school diploma or GED, or one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to deal with high-stress situations calmly and productively.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to grab, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

We are a newly constructed and privately owned small animal clinic. We have a 3000 square foot facility with 5 exam rooms, a large treatment area, a dental suite, a surgery suite, and Fear Free warming cages. We offer acupuncture and have on-call specialists who include internal medicine, cardiology, and surgery.
