Veterinary Technician (RVT) / Experienced Veterinary Assistant

Seeking a compassionate, skilled, upbeat Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our tight‑knit team.

Weekend shift differential and overnight shift differential.

We are a growing Specialty and Emergency Veterinary Hospital located in Berkeley. PETS is a talented and collaborative team who enjoys working together to provide excellent patient care and client service. We have a long history of providing excellent service to our community.

Who are we looking for?

Please have a positive personality, be capable of effective communication, enjoy working in a fast‑paced team environment, multi‑task like a pro, and have a well‑rounded skill set and solid knowledge base. As we are a 24‑hour emergency hospital please be willing to work outside the boring 9 am‑5 pm weekday schedule, specifically weekend day shifts or evenings. We prefer someone with at least one year of experience working as a technician in a veterinary hospital.

• Assisting Veterinarians and other staff members
• Restraining animals safely using stress‑free handling techniques
• Working collaboratively and positively with all coworkers
• Providing nursing care to hospitalized patients and medical care to outpatients
• Using all in‑house laboratory equipment to provide accurate results
• Safely and effectively taking digital radiographs
• Calculating drug dosages
• Giving medications via all prescribed routes: PO, SC, IM, IV
• Proficiency with catheterization (venous, urinary)
• Possessing or developing advanced emergency skills
• Being comfortable with all aspects of emergency medicine
• Effectively caring for and communicating with clients
