Departmental Overview
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) in both the College of Engineering and the Division of Computing Data Science and Society, is the largest department on the Berkeley campus consisting of over 130 faculty, adjunct, active emeriti and PIR appointments, 3,400+ undergraduates both in the College of Engineering and Letters and Science, 650+ graduate students, and 60+ staff members.
EECS programs are consistently ranked in the top three by many measures, including U.S. News & World Report's national and global ranking. Annual operating budget, not including research expenditures for EECS, is $37+ million.
The Facilities Project Management Specialist assists the EECS Director of Facilities on all projects. With regular guidance, manages small and capital design and construction projects. Oversees and ensures that all training and close-out documents meet the contract requirements and are properly turned over to the appropriate entity. The incumbent manages project reviews for conformance to regulatory requirements and organization policies, and takes initiative to make recommendations to modify construction and design contracts to incorporate the needs of the project closeout and training.

Responsibilities- 25% Supports and assists the EECS Director of Facilities on all projects and operations from the planning and design phase, including, but not limited to, reviewing project progress, assisting with inspections, drafting, and reviewing project schedules, budgets, construction documents, estimates, facility utility reviews, contractor access, etc.
- 25% Coordinates, monitors, and tracks small projects, critical maintenance, custodial, grounds, and other service requests for Campus Facilities Services, as well as for other outside vendors or organizations working on assigned EECS facilities.
- 15% Sequences and schedules work of skilled trades/vendors/contractors to ensure completion within defined timelines and budgetary constraints; identifies and coordinates necessary actions to correct faulty work or meet new job parameters; maintains understanding of the scope of each project/repair for specific trades.
- 10% Serve as the primary contact for all occupants regarding project and maintenance impacts, including faculty, staff, graduate students, post-docs, and instructional spaces.
- 10% Perform organizational and administrative activities not directly related to projects, including serving on organizational committees representing the department or unit.
