Departmental Overview
University Health Services (UHS) serves the campus by providing comprehensive campus-based health center providing fully accredited primary medical care, counseling and psychological services and innovative health promotion programs for students, faculty and staff. The Occupational Health Clinic specifically provides services for UC Berkeley employees, student employees, and other specifically designated campus groups. The clinic provides visits and evaluation for workers' compensation injuries, pre-hire screening, campus surveillance needs.
Approximately 65,000 visits occur annually including Primary Care, Urgent Care, Occupational Health, and Specialty Clinics. Medical care and wellness programs for faculty and staff are designed to meet their occupational health needs and minimize lost work time. These visits generate ancillary encounters with the Radiology, Clinical Laboratory, Physical Therapy and Pharmacy departments.
Position SummaryThe Occupational Health Clinic (OHC) Manager, under the direction of the Occupational Health Chief, manages the Occupational Health Program at University Health Services and provides direct supervision to the clinical and administrative support staff, in addition to the Work Strong coordination and fitness staff, in the Occupational Health Clinic. This supervisor is highly skilled and experienced with the running of the occupational health clinic.
The clinic sees patients who have work related injuries or require employment physicals, immunization, and health screenings. They manage day to day operations in the clinic and are involved in scheduling, administrative oversight, and management of the support staff. They hold the primary responsibility for compliance with all applicable OSHA, public health, and accreditation standards. Additional significant responsibilities within the larger Occupational Health Program include management and tracking of screening and surveillance programs essential to campus health and safety.

ResponsibilitiesSUPERVISION:
- Manages the scheduling of staff according to optimize clinical services across the unit.
- Coordinates and participates in a variety of Human Resources activities, including employment, training, classification and ensuring the completion of required processes related to Human Resources and payroll.
- Recommends hiring of new employees, salary actions, terminations, and performance ratings.
- Monitors and evaluates work of direct reports. Monitors staff performance related to customer service standards; takes action for immediate improvements in performance as needed.
