The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Mental Health Clinical Supervisor in the Health, Housing & Community Services Department! In this role, you will supervise the day-to-day operation of a unit within the Mental Health Division (Children's System of Care, Adult System of Care, or Crisis and Assessment Unit) or the Aging Services Division (Social Services Unit).In

addition to providing clinical and administrative supervision to professional staff, you will have the opportunity to supervise trainees who represent the next generation of behavioral health clinicians. You will also provide direct services or consultations for more complex cases.

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is aMaster's degree and three (3) years of full-time post-licensure experience as a health professional in a mental health agency. Experience as a lead in a mental health clinic is desirable.

Other requirements include California licensure as a Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist or Psychologist. Must maintain license in good standing over the course of employment.

When driving on City business, the incumbent is required to maintain a valid California driver's license as well as a satisfactory driving record.

The exam processwillinclude, but is not limited to:

  • Application review for minimum qualifications and required documents (qualifying experience will be calculated based on the administrative review date)

Tests may consist of any combination of written, oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include, but are not necessarily limited to, typing, math, reading, writing and analytical skills; problem solving ability; computer and software proficiency, or any other job-related knowledge, skill, ability or qualification.

The examination process and datesare subject to change. The Citymay, without notice, change or eliminate any assessment component as needs dictate. Applicants passing all examination phases will have their names placed on an employment eligible list that hiring departments will use to conduct final selection interviews.
