An Engineering Technician, Harness Builds job opportunity is open with our client in Berkeley, CA. In this role you will support the development, testing, and validation of our energy storage products. This role is hands‑on and critical to building the prototype electrical harnessing that will be used in first‑of‑a‑kind testing. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, thrives in a lab environment, and has experience with harness fabrication and control panel wiring.
Job Duties- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Fabricate complex wire harnesses and cable assemblies to support prototypes, test fixtures, and system integration.
- Assemble and wire industrial control panels in accordance with UL508A standards.
- Perform crimping, routing, labeling, and continuity verification.
- Support prototype bring‑up and troubleshooting alongside electrical engineers.
- Construct and maintain electrical test fixtures, load boxes, wiring assemblies, and custom hardware used to characterize and validate battery cells, modules, and electronic subsystems.
- Install instrumentation, sensors, power supplies, data acquisition systems, and safety interlocks as needed.
- Support test engineers and product engineers in setting up and executing electrical tests.
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience as an engineering technician, electrical technician, wire harness fabricator, or similar role.
- Strong proficiency in electrical wiring, cable harness fabrication, and panel assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, panel layouts, and mechanical drawings.
- Familiarity with standard electrical tools, test equipment, and safety practices (DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.).
- Experience working with industrial control panels or UL508A‑compliant builds.
- Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and pride in quality builds.
- Comfortable in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Proactive problem‑solver who can work independently or as part of a team.
- Safety‑minded, organized, and committed to continuous improvement.
