University of California, Berkeley (July 9 - July 25, 2026), Yale University (June 25 - July 25, 2026)

Commitment :
On-campus residency required for the full duration of the program

Please note that all hired staff are required to attend a mandatory Zoom training on Tuesday, June 9 at 6:00 PM EST. Active participation, including maintaining cameras on, is expected for the duration of the session.

Job Overview

Edu Explora is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and dynamic individuals to join our team as Residential Counselors for the 2026 summer program. This role is critical in fostering a supportive, safe, and engaging environment for high school students during their pre-college experience. Ideal for college students or recent graduates, this position offers valuable leadership and mentoring opportunities, helping students navigate their academic and personal growth.

The program will take place on the University of California, Berkeley campus (July 9 to July 26, 2026) or Yale University campus (June 25 to July 25, 2026).

Key Responsibilities Student Supervision
  • Provide attentive and compassionate supervision to students during academic, recreational, and social activities, ensuring their safety and overall well-being throughout the program.
  • Conduct regular wellness checks, including community walks of multi-story buildings, to monitor participants’ physical and emotional health, addressing any concerns promptly.
Residential Life Management
  • Support the daily operations of the residential program, maintaining a structured and positive living environment for students.
  • Supervise evening activities, ensure adherence to curfew policies, and foster a welcoming and inclusive community within the residence halls.
  • Assist with logistical tasks during program setup and closing, including welcoming students on Arrival Day and managing Departure Day operations.
Activity Facilitation
  • Lead and actively engage students in a variety of scheduled activities, such as academic sessions, team-building exercises, cultural excursions, and social events.
  • Encourage participation, promote inclusivity, and cultivate a sense of community through thoughtful facilitation of programs and events.
Chaperone Off‑Site Excursions
  • Ensure student safety and engagement while supervising off‑campus trips to local attractions, museums, and recreational destinations.
  • Coordinate logistics and transitions during field trips, fostering a positive and enriching experience for participants.
  • Serve as a mentor and source of socio‑emotional support for students, helping them navigate challenges and embrace opportunities for personal growth.
  • Resolve conflicts with empathy and professionalism, promoting a respectful and collaborative environment.
Behavior Management
  • Uphold program rules and policies with consistency and fairness, ensuring students adhere to behavioral expectations.
  • Create a supportive environment where students feel empowered to contribute positively to the residential community.
Emergency Response
  • Respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies, providing first‑line assistance and coordinating with leadership and campus staff to ensure safety and resolution.
  • Demonstrate calm and clear decision‑making during high‑pressure situations, prioritizing the well‑being of all participants.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Work closely with other Residential Counselors, program staff, and leadership to support the success of the program.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and program evaluations, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university.
  • Previous experience working with youth in a camp, school, or similar setting; leadership, mentorship, or residential life experience is a plus.
