Position title: Lecturer
Salary range: UC academic salary scales determine minimum pay by rank/step. Rough estimate: $70,977 - $120,835.
Percent time: 10%-100% (part‑time to full‑time).
Anticipated start: AY 7/1/2025;
Fall 8/1/2025;
Spring 1/1/2026;
Summer May‑Aug.

Position Description The Department of Neuroscience (NEU) at UC Berkeley invites applications for a pool of non‑tenure track Lecturer positions to teach NEU courses as needed. Typically lecturers hire to teach or co‑teach a single course in a semester or summer session; occasionally a lecturer may teach multiple courses in the same semester.
Teaching Responsibilities
Lecturer duties: Small, medium, and large lectures, seminars, and laboratories in the subject areas listed below.
- Broad survey courses in neuroscience
- Molecular, cellular, and developmental neuroscience
- Circuit, systems, and behavioral neuroscience
- Cognitive neuroscience
- Computational neuroscience
- Neurotechnology
- Laboratory courses in the above areas
- Scientific communication and writing
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Masters degree (or equivalent international degree) for laboratory and lecturer courses.
Additional qualifications (required at time of hire)
Ph.D. or M.D. (or equivalent international degree) required to teach a lecture course by the time of hire.
Preferred qualifications
Documented experience teaching at the college level in a biological or life science.
Completion of all Ph.D. requirements except dissertation in a biological field or life sciences.
