The ASES Tutor position will provide academic assistance services to students who need remedial assistance, including tutoring students in specific academic areas related to their core curriculum and/or assist students with their homework assignments or projects during the after school program. The after school support staff will be under the supervision of the Principal or ASES Coordinator.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Tutor students during Homework Help during after school program.
- Teach an Enrichment class of your choice to students during after school program.
- Assist with integrating core-curriculum concepts.
- Manage groups of students to make efficient use of time.
- Consult with the Principal or ASES Coordinator on academic assistance strategies.
- Communicate regularly with school-day teachers and ASES program staff.
- Ensure student safety and school accountability.
- Keep accurate records and collect data on students.
- Attend in-service trainings as well as other appropriate trainings according to Professional development.
- Work experience in a school setting with students.
- Must possess organization, communication and problem solving skills.
- Must pass a DOJ background check.
- Must be willing to create and follow through with individualized professional development plan.
- Ability to demonstrate skills in development of academic activities.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- High level of communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong initiative and ability to solve problems.
- Prolonged periods of standing.
- Prolonged periods of sitting.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard.
- Occasional lifting of objects up to twenty-five pounds.
- Bending at the waist, kneeling, and/or crouching to file materials.
- Ability to access and navigate various facilities within the organization.
The position is in a school building, which may be air conditioned and heated. May be exposed to prolonged noise or weather. This type of work will involve walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods. Stooping, squatting, kneeling, overhead reaching and repetitive bending may be involved frequently with this position. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far. Vision, depth perception, providing oral information, and manual dexterity.
Must be able to climb stairs and sit for extended periods of time. Requires finger dexterity to operate equipment, handling work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
