The Department of Recreation & Wellbeing provides competitive and recreational opportunities for students, faculty, staff and campus‑affiliated community members. In addition to the 30 sports clubs, the department offers a wide range of recreational activities and state‑of‑the‑art equipment.
Position SummaryThe Youth Camp Coordinator provides administrative support to assigned seasonal Camp Programs. The Youth Camp Coordinator works closely with the Youth Camps Supervisor and is responsible for management of assigned staff, development/implementation of daily schedules and rotations, staff scheduling, camp operations, supply and equipment inventory, and development, implementation, and evaluation of Camp Program Activities. Camp Coordinators serve on seasonal summer camp leadership team, and report directly to the Youth Camps Supervisor.

Responsibilities Support & Coaching- Provide training, support and coaching to camp leadership staff (Camp Leads) in coordination with Youth Camps Supervisor working in assigned camp, seasonal program(s);
Provide direction and feedback as necessary. - Maintain and promote the health, safety, and well‑being of camp staff.
- Organize, implement, and document professional development program, including weekly camp leadership meetings.
- Ensure staff are adhering to and understand all stated policies and procedures of the Recreational Sports Department, and UC Berkeley, while providing a safe, fun, and educational skills‑based experience for all youth campers/participants.
- Maintain schedule of staff, and secure substitutes for all elements of the program.
- Help staff adjust to camp life and each other.
- Prepare, maintain and process all forms and paperwork accurately and promptly (rosters, accident reports, timesheets, equipment, staff paperwork, etc.).
- Supervise, organize, and document camp schedules, including attendance, activity rotations, check‑in, and release of campers.
- Develop and maintain a process for quality control and risk assessment in programs. Provide a comprehensive end‑of‑camp report including assessment, recommendations, inventories, etc.
- Manage direct Customer Service and Ops team.
- Communicate and work closely with supervisor on all aspects of customer service, paperwork, facility, program development, and staff supervision.
- Communicate and resolve escalated phone calls and concerns with parents of campers.
- Administer first aid as needed and in accordance with training/certification.
