The ASUC Student Union is a department within the Division of Student Affairs and is the administrative & advising support arm of the ASUC (Associated Students of the University of California) Student Government. This complex serves all students, faculty and staff, and visitors seeking to create and experience an inclusive campus community, thereby enhancing the student experience at UC Berkeley. To this end, we provide quality services and programs that foster experiential learning opportunities and ensure a sustainable organization.
With direction from the ASUC Student Union Board, we derive income from student fees, retail operations, vending, food service, and a variety of self-operated units such as the Art Studio and Events Services. The Student Union Facilities Maintenance & Operations (SUFMO) manages and operates multiple facilities including the MLK Jr. Student Union, Eshleman Hall, Anthony Hall, and Anna Head Alumnae Hall.
As a University amenity to the student experience, MLK Jr. Student Union and Eshleman Hall are required to provide building operations day and evenings. Our professional and student staff value providing high-quality customer service while fostering a safe, secure, and operable environment for the campus community and visitors.
The Berkeley Audio Visual Technical Specialist 4 provides administrative, analytical, scheduling, sales and technical support for Berkeley Event Services and Berkeley Audio Visual. This role manages and implements audiovisual programs, systems and technical elements in support of campus events, instruction, research, conferences and communications. The position leads the execution of promotional strategies to increase awareness of services and offerings, supports policy and program planning and provides consultative guidance to campus partners.
With general supervision, the role conducts analytical studies, interprets policies and procedures and collaborates with institutional stakeholders to support complex projects and major events.

ResponsibilitiesPerforms highly complex assessments of client requirements for events and advises on appropriate technology.
- Assesses current or emerging technology and advises on its appropriate use for teaching and/or AV production.
- Acts as key resource for the most complex and critical AV IT technology set-ups, equipment failures and most sensitive clients.
Identifies and develops requirements and specific technical needs for most complex and significant events.
- Develops, documents and implements policy, processes and work flow for video-post production including digital editing, encoding, asset management, web distribution, intellectual property (IP) compliance, and communication with clients.
- Oversees standards and development of online support, user documentation and/or user requirements.
- Facilitating Departmental deliverables, responsible for moving them forward; prepares, edits and modifies documents including research reports, manuscripts, presentations and proposals.
- Manages small & medium projects such as process mapping and documentation.
- Ad-hoc projects and duties as assigned. These include providing support and managing the implementation and upkeep of all departmental client relationship management software.
