One of the nation's leading university museums, the University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA) is a forum for cultural experiences that transform individuals and advance the local, national, and global discourse on art and film. As the premier visual arts venue at America's top public research university, BAMPFA is uniquely dedicated to art and film in equal measure, presenting more than 300 hundred film screenings, dozens of public programs, and more than fifteen exhibitions annually.
BAMPFA takes a contemporary and critical perspective on its wide-ranging collections.
The Theater Events Facilitator is a limited (10–15 hours per week) position responsible for overseeing events in the Barbro Osher Theater, a 230‑seat theater venue within BAMPFA, used for film screenings, public lectures, artist talks, and other events. This position covers the weekend/evening shifts. The Theater Events Facilitator is responsible for sharing detailed information with a variety of external partner institutions and internal departments.
Oversees day‑of technical rehearsals, and public programs in the Barbro Osher Theater and is experienced with event logistics. Assist the Film Coordinator in training, overseeing, and giving feedback to work‑study ushers. The Theater Events Facilitator will be present at public programs in the Barbro Osher Theater typically scheduled as weekend and evening film screenings and lecture programs. Because of this schedule, it is critical that the individual in this position be able to work at a high level of performance with minimal supervision in a position that requires significant responsibility for the visitor experience of many.
The Theater Events Facilitator is one of BAMPFA's designated representatives to the public.

ResponsibilitiesTheater Set Up:
- Responsible for furniture setups on stage such as the piano, podium, or table and chairs for a panel discussion.
- Present for the pre‑screening setup and post‑screening breakdown of the theater.
- Ensures that sound volume, image sharpness, and masking are of the highest quality and informs projectionist of any adjustments needed.
- Present for the entirety of guest introductions and guest presentations and/or until the film is onscreen for at least 25 minutes.
- Present until end of a screening to manage all post‑screening discussions.
Communications:
- Sends emails to film curators and Education Department staff sharing any relevant information related to audience input or requests.
