Sandstone Animal Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to help care for animals while supporting veterinarians, technicians, and the facility. We are a small practice that is privately owned allowing us to bond with our clients and patients. We love our community and provide quality care to pets. • Assist the veterinarian and technicians in examinations and operations, ensuring safe and compassionate care.
• Properly restrain dogs and cats to prevent injury to humans while keeping the animal safe.
• Communicate empathetically and compassionately with clients, and document medical records accurately.
• Contribute to the smooth operation of the facility and support ongoing learning in veterinary medicine.
• Help create a positive work environment to support practice goals.

• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous experience or training/education in a veterinary facility is required.

• Friendly, outgoing, and people oriented.
• Excellent communications skills.
• Telephone and computer skills are necessary.
• Ability to retain information.
• Observant with attention to detail.
• Typing, spelling, reading, and ability to follow through with directions.
• Basic math skills.
• Team player willing to learn new techniques, new treatments, and to accept change as we can not grow without it.

• Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
• Ability to walk, bend, stand, use stairs, and reach constantly during a minimum 4 hour day.
• Exposure to loud noises, smells, bodily eliminations/ fluids, and zoonotic diseases.
