General Description Of Position
Administer the training room, providing initial treatment, subsequent treatment and rehabilitation services for junior and senior high student athletes under the general direction of the Athletic Director and assistant athletic director. Supervise student athletic trainers within the student internship program and consult with coaches, parents and physicians as needed. The goal of the position is to have athletes as ready to participate as physically/safely possible and to prevent athletic injuries from ever occurring.
Responsibilities- Develops a plan of action and budget to address needs for the training rooms. Supervises student athletic trainers and coordinates with coaches. This duty is performed daily.
- Will be able to demonstrate an ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, (including CPR/first aid) and rehabilitation as set forth by the NATA Board of Certification and the Arkansas State Board of Athletic Training. This duty is performed daily.
- Responsible for ordering appropriate supplies/materials for the training room. This duty is performed irregularly.
- Attends all varsity/junior varsity/sophomore and all varsity football games. Attends other senior high and junior high practices/games as designated by athletic director. Schedules coverage assignments for assistant athletic training staff. This duty is performed daily.
- Provides written report of student injuries and status of injury to the Head Coach, Athletic Director, assistant athletic trainers and parents as appropriate. Maintains appropriate records and keeps on file all physical forms. This duty is performed irregularly.
- Provide treatment and rehabilitation as needed to junior and senior high athletes. This duty is performed daily.
- Attends Arkansas Athletic Trainer Associates meetings and NATA National Meeting. On a yearly basis (or as required), provides CPR/first aid training to all BPS coaches to include CPR training and heat related illnesses. This duty is performed annually.
- Provides and coordinates with parent's information regarding insurance claims. This duty is performed irregularly.
- Determines an athlete's physical readiness to participate and communicates this with coaching staff. This duty is performed daily.
- Knowledge of normal anatomical structure and function, physiological demand and response to exercise, normal biomechanical demands of exercise, nutritional and hydration demands of the athlete, contraindications and side effects of prescription and non-prescription medications, absorption, dissipation, and transmission of energy of varying materials (i.e., protective padding), and legal requirements and rules of the athletic event. This duty is performed daily.
- Knowledge of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and other transmitted diseases.
- Knowledge of transmission and proper cleaning of athletic and non-athletic supplies and equipment. This duty is performed daily.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Required Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsCurrent NATA certification in good standing, eligible for state of Arkansas athletic training licensure.
Preferred Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsCPR / First Aid Instructor Certification is preferred.
Software Skills RequiredBasic:
Contact Management, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing, concussion software assessment.
