Position: (USA) Software Engineer III - Android

Position Summary

As a part of Walmart Global Tech, you'll build industry‑defining reusable customer and partner‑facing services and products to lead differentiated experiences and revenue. You will be in the unique position to serve both our customers (1P as well as 3P) and our associates as a member of this organization supporting all segments of Walmart. the Team

Our team works closely with our U.S. stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at , through one of our mobile apps, or in‑store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in‑store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

Responsibilities
  • Develop features with the highest level of quality by anticipating potential failures and implementing resiliency plans and fail‑safe mechanisms.
  • Work with Product Managers to chart the development timeline and plans while delivering features well in advance of deadlines and buffering for last‑minute surprises.
  • Collaborate closely with Design and UX teams to create intuitive experiences that make it effortless to connect different apps together.
  • Engage leads and architects during implementation, constantly setting a high goal for product improvement and providing a clear path for career growth.
Qualifications
  • At least 4 years of corporate work experience in Android development
    .
  • Extensive understanding of Android framework components and their life cycles, combined with solid knowledge of multithreading, networking, offline storage, and performance tuning.
  • Extensive knowledge of Kotlin, Android SDK, and Gradle
    , and experience working with asynchronously coroutines and dependency injection (Dagger).
  • Build reusable Android components and orchestrate user interactions integrating with backend services via REST and Graph

  • Ability to build products with a focus on testability; love test coverage (well versed with MockK, Google Truth, Robolectric, and Espresso).
  • Wide experience working in multi‑module environment projects.
  • Expert‑level knowledge of Git and continuous integration.
  • Experience designing good app architecture using design patterns such as MVVM, MVP, or Clean.
  • Experience working for large corporations and for the retail industry.
