Director, Global Communications – eCommerce & Marketplace

As a key leader within Walmart’s U.S. eCommerce Communications team, you’ll help define and lead the storytelling for Walmart’s end-to-end eCommerce experience—where Marketplace, first-party (1P) items, digital innovation, and physical stores come together. From seller-powered assortment and Walmart Fulfillment Services to AI-driven experiences like Sparky, virtual try-on, and seamless store-connected shopping, you’ll bring to life how Walmart delivers convenience, value, and innovation at unmatched scale.

Your work will position Walmart as a leader in omnichannel retail—showcasing how our eCommerce platform and nearly 5,000 U.S. stores work together to create experiences competitors simply can’t replicate.

About the Team

The eCommerce Communications team sits within Walmart’s broader Global Communications organization and is at the center of how we tell Walmart’s digital retail story. We connect customers, sellers, associates, and stakeholders to the technology, people, and platforms powering  and the Walmart app—from Marketplace and 1P assortment to AI-powered discovery, blended digital and in-store experiences, and seller innovation.

Working closely with partners across eCommerce, Marketplace, Merchandising, Operations, Technology, Product, and Corporate Affairs, we craft narratives that highlight how Walmart’s unique omnichannel model drives better experiences for customers and better outcomes for sellers and associates.

What you’ll do...Strategic Communications & Leadership
  • Lead communications strategy supporting Walmart’s broader eCommerce ecosystem, including omni assortment, and site and app experiences.
  • Help position Walmart as a leader in omnichannel retail by telling integrated stories that connect digital innovation with physical store strength.
  • Develop and execute proactive, integrated campaigns that highlight how Walmart’s eCommerce platform delivers convenience, value, and differentiation in a competitive landscape.
Omnichannel & Digital Experience Storytelling
  • Support communications for key site and app enhancements, including AI-powered experiences like Sparky, virtual try-on, and personalized discovery.
  • Tell the story of blended digital and in-store experiences—such as purchasing items online and completing services, in-store mode, and store-connected fulfillment.
  • Translate complex technology and product innovation into clear, customer-first narratives that resonate across audiences.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner across eCommerce, Marketplace, Stores, Product, Technology, Merchandising, Marketing, and Corporate Affairs to deliver a cohesive and consistent eCommerce narrative.
  • Work closely with product and tech teams to support launches, updates, and ongoing innovation storytelling.
  • Support executive communications and thought leadership that elevate Walmart’s position in eCommerce, retail technology, and omnichannel leadership.
Storytelling & Content Development
  • Build compelling narratives that highlight how Walmart’s eCommerce ecosystem benefits customers, sellers, and associates—combining scale, innovation, and trust.
  • Develop executive messaging, blog posts, media materials, and social content that bring Walmart’s digital and omnichannel strategy to life.
  • Serve as a spokesperson and trusted communications partner for eCommerce‑and Marketplace‑related initiatives and announcements.
Governance, Issues & Optimization
  • Partner with stakeholders to support governance related to Marketplace and site experiences, helping enable growth while managing reputational risk.
  • Use data, insights, and analytics to evaluate communications impact and refine strategy over time.
  • Monitor trends across eCommerce, AI, retail technology, and omnichannel innovation to keep Walmart’s storytelling fresh, relevant, and forward‑looking.
