THE POSITION

About Team:

We are a new, Principal-led impact platform located in Chicago, the ancestral land of the Council of the Three Fires. We use a variety of tools to make impact - including grantmaking, investing, and narrative shifting - to contribute to a world where: animal well-being is a human value, creatives thrive and lead thriving communities, caregivers are valued and live quality lives, investment decisions are made by an increasingly diverse and informed group of individuals, and entrepreneurial leadership and business purpose represent the full spectrum of thought, identity and opportunity that exists in this country.

Our work is centered in Chicago and the Midwest, and we also engage with the national and global systems that shape our regional work. Changing the narrative of Chicago and Midwest is a goal that is woven through the five core areas listed above, as well as a stand-alone aspect of our Founder’s vision for impact. We are excited to build an organization that fulfills and advances our shared purpose and values in every aspect of its design and culture.

About the Farmed Animal Well-Being Initiative Lead Position

The Farmed Animal Well-Being (FAW) Lead will advance and oversee the FAW Initiative at the organization, holding responsibility for the Initiative’s impact, outcomes, reputation and network development, and evolution over time. The FAW Lead will represent the Initiative and the organization externally in appropriate settings, and manage a small team internally, as well as an external team of consultants and advisors to implement the Initiative, conduct learning, and build its platform.

Internally, the FAW Lead will also be responsible for elevating the well being of farmed animals and relevant food system transformation across the organization - from integrating farmed animal well-being and relevant food system transformation into other portfolios to developing policies that internally advance farmed animal well-being and relevant food system transformation in our own practices.

What you’ll do:

  • As the lead voice for farmed animal well-being and relevant food system transformation on the Impact Cabinet (IC), the FAW Lead will elevate FAW across all initiatives, contribute to strategic planning of all initiatives, and collaboratively make decisions about major investments, grants, and projects alongside the IC.
  • As the lead thought partner and strategist for Farmed Animal Well-Being and food systems transformation at the organization, this person takes an equity driven and partner-centric approach to distributing resources, sharing learning and resources, and collaborating internally and externally: leading implementation of the FAW initiative and strategic refreshes of the FAW impact plans, representing FAW in external settings, elevating partners in and outside of their sectors, and managing a small internal team and external team of consultants.
  • As the lead and one of the primary representatives of the FAW Initiative for the organization, take an equity driven approach to partnership, networking, and communication in the field: sourcing and diligencing opportunities for impact investing and grantmaking, staffing projects and efforts appropriately, and ensuring that New Co is values-driven in its impact practice - prioritizing relational approaches over transactional approaches.
  • What you’ll bring:

  • Experience working on behalf of farmed animals, to evolve food systems, and/or in a family office setting
  • Strong understanding of the various impact tools…
