Position Summary

The Senior Director role leading the West Transportation Command Center (WTCC) sits at the heart of our fleet performance in the west division. This leader runs mission critical operations and sets the standard for how we serve stores, clubs, and customers  focus is people first, culture forward, and grounded in strong operational judgment. The leader drives a full transformation across people, process, and technology.

The work brings digital capabilities into the operation, so teams respond faster, make clearer decisions, and meet the needs of customers and members as they shift how and when they shop. This is a field role stationed in the Bentonville RDC premises (6094).

Responsibilities and Scale:

  • Leads a 24x7 operation with 300+ associates on a budget of over $25M.
  • Oversees service, dispatch, and scheduling across three regions.
  • Manages capacity and operations for 52 transportation offices.
  • Optimizes cost and revenue across the transportation network.
  • Supports all Walmart, Sam’s Club, and eCommerce store formats.
  • Drives operational consistency across the West and East TCCs.
  • Establishes clear rules of engagement for TCC and local field offices.
  • Aligns with Product, Tech, and DC leadership on technology priorities.
  • Partners with Transportation Operations to execute the tech roadmap.

What you ll do

  • Manages financial aspects for a large or medium-scale facility by approving and tracking expenses against budgets, monitoring asset utilization, and preparing, reviewing and analyzing business reports.
  • Leads and directs the large or medium-scale facility by communicating goals, monitoring performance, and providing feedback; identifies training and development needs and ensures opportunities for learning and growth; supports Supply Chain and company policies and procedures; oversees hiring, promotion, coaching, teaching, and evaluation of associates.
  • Monitors and ensures facility-wide compliance with logistics and company quality and safety standards, policies, procedures, and directives by developing, distributing, and maintaining procedures and supporting documentation.
  • Reviews and approves forecasted staffing plans to ensure staffing meets business demands for workload and performance results.
  • Ensures associate, customer, and supplier concerns are resolved by investigating and making decisions based on facts or consulting with others.
  • Serves as a community liaison by participating in local organizations and charitable activities, promoting company-sponsored programs and events to associates, customers, and the local community.
  • Facilitates continuous improvement efforts consistent with the Walmart Performance System (WPS) by leading implementation of WPS and establishing root cause analysis processes.
  • Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs, developing and communicating business plans and priorities, removing barriers, providing resources, and supporting continuous learning.
  • Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training, mentoring, assigning duties, building a team-based work environment, establishing performance expectations, and conducting regular evaluations; provides recognition and rewards and coaching for success and improvement; promotes a belonging mindset.
