Job Summary

The Director, Marketplace – Dry Grocery will lead Walmart’s third‑party (3P) Marketplace Dry Grocery business, owning the strategy, P&L, and performance for one of the fastest‑growing categories within Walmart’s eCommerce organization. This role manages a team of 6–8 associates and partners closely with two VPs and one SVP to drive assortment strategy, cross‑functional alignment, scale seller growth, and deliver category results that support Walmart’s omnichannel grocery leadership.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, data‑driven business leader with strong executive presence, proven people leadership, and the ability to set vision, execute with clarity, and inspire a high‑performance team.

  • Owning the Marketplace Dry Grocery business end‑to‑end, setting the strategy and managing performance across financial, assortment, and experience goals.
  • Leading and developing a team of 6–8 associates
    , fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Defining category strategy and growth plans
    , including brand acquisition, assortment expansion, and event participation to meet annual operating plan (AOP) targets.
  • Partnering cross‑functionally with Product, Operations, Supply Chain, Site Experience, and Marketing to ensure the seller and customer experience exceeds expectations.
  • Influencing senior leaders (two VPs and one SVP) through clear communication of business strategy, performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Driving innovation in 3P grocery assortment, pricing, and fulfillment through data‑driven insights and strategic partnerships.
  • Championing belonging while maintaining a high bar for team performance and associate development.
What You’ll Bring
  • 10+ years of experience in retail, eCommerce, or category management, with direct experience in Marketplace or third‑party business management.
  • Demonstrated success in P&L ownership
    , strategic planning, and cross‑functional leadership.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent executive presence and communication skills; proven ability to influence at the VP/SVP level.
  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing teams
    ; empathetic leader who drives accountability and inspires performance.
  • A growth mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and lead through change.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in retail or eCommerce.
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading a 3P Marketplace or platform business.
  • Deep understanding of the grocery or CPG category landscape.
  • Proven record of developing strategic partnerships and influencing senior stakeholders.

Additional Information

5 days in‑office days expected per week. Travel up to 15% for site visits and partner engagements.
