Overview

Position Summary... Join the Regulatory & Specialty Legal, Regulated Products team as Counsel, Food for the world’s largest food retailer. In this position, you will play a critical role providing regulatory counseling, strategic guidance and support to various stakeholder groups across the company, such as Legal, Compliance, Private Brands, Merchandising, Corporate Affairs, Operations, and other business partners. This role will serve as a subject matter expert on legal and regulatory issues related to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and U.

S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), state laws relevant to the food and retail industry, ecommerce, food labeling, food supplier management, inspections, investigations, manufacturing, recalls, and new food related business initiatives, among other issues.

What you ll do...

  • Tracking, monitoring, and advising on federal and state food related statutory, regulatory, and enforcement developments.

  • Providing regulatory support for USDA, FDA, and state compliance and enforcement issues.

  • Advise on food labeling matters, including food claims.

  • Providing legal advice and counsel on food manufacturing and supporting food risk and assessment programs.

  • Reviewing and advising on agreements with various parties to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.

  • Finding solutions to support Walmart’s strategic initiatives, ensuring that we deliver to our customers safe and affordable food options.

What you ll bring
  • Previous experience in government, in-house, or private practice with a reputable law firm.

  • Ability to advise clients on food regulatory laws and assist with developing practical solutions.

  • Experience working with senior legal and compliance stakeholders in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

  • Strong written and oral communications.
