About the Role

The Data Capture Manager leads a team of 15+ Data Capture Leads and Associates across all shifts, ensuring the accurate measurement and documentation of product attributes that customers can't see in photos—dimensions, weights, materials, compliance marks, packaging text, and performance specs.

This is a hands‑on leadership role that balances people management with technical problem‑solving to decide what data do we need to capture for each product that comes through the Factory. You'll coach shift leads, refine measurement processes, troubleshoot equipment issues, and partner with Product and R&D teams to improve how we capture and structure product data at scale.

What you will do
  • Lead and develop a team of 15+ Data Capture Leads and Associates across multiple shifts, providing coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Ensure daily operations run smoothly, resolving measurement issues, addressing equipment problems, and maintaining product flow through data capture stations.
  • Build and refine SOPs for dimensional measurement, packaging/label reading (OCR), material identification, compliance marks, and product specifications.
  • Partner with Product and R&D teams to deploy and optimize computer vision, OCR tools, and sensor equipment for more accurate and efficient data capture.
  • Partner with leadership in defining what product attributes matter most by category (electronics, toys, home goods, etc.) to help customers make confident purchase decisions.
  • Monitor data quality and implement process improvements to maintain accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all captures.
  • Operate and troubleshoot specialized equipment including dimensional scanners, scales, calipers, barcode readers, and other measurement tools.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex data capture challenges and technical issues.
  • Collaborate with warehouse operations to coordinate product staging and maintain efficient workflow.
  • Maintain alignment with retailer data requirements, GS1 standards, and internal data contracts.
  • 5+ years of experience in product data, quality assurance, test engineering, industrial engineering, or similar measurement-focused roles.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience managing teams in a factory, lab, or production environment.
  • Strong analytical and spatial reasoning skills with attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with technical equipment, sensors, and measurement tools.
  • Experience creating clear SOPs and training materials that scale.
  • Hands‑on problem‑solver who can troubleshoot equipment and process issues in real‑time.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with GS1/GTIN, retailer item setup, PIM/MDM, or PDP optimization.
  • Exposure to ISO/ASTM measurement standards; metrology or test‑lab background.
  • Scripting for data normalization/QA (e.g., Python/SQL) and basic prompt engineering for LLMs.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects frequently (up to 50 lbs).
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach regularly.
  • Visual acuity to read labels, packing slips, product literature, computer screens, and to inspect goods for defects.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment which may include exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and noise.
  • Tools you will touch: computer vision/OCR tools; label/UPC scanners; calibrated scales; dimensional scanners/cubiscans; calipers; SPL meters; colorimeters; torque/pull gauges; RFID/Barcode systems; PIM/MDM; QA dashboards; workflow…
