Position: Senior Manager, Experience Strategist

Overview

Sam’s Club is reimagining how private brands and trend-led products are discovered, developed, and brought to life for members. As Senior Manager, UX Design – Member’s Mark Community & Trends, you will lead experience strategy for how insights, trends, and member signals shape physical product development—especially across Member’s Mark and private brands. This role sits at the intersection of design, research, analytics, and merchandising, helping teams answer:
What is the experience we are delivering that enables the right products to be created?

You will also manage associate and member digital and physical experiences, with a strong emphasis on fostering community engagement, facilitating early product testing with members, and enhancing loyalty ecosystems. You will oversee initiatives that invite members to participate in product feedback loops, test new offerings before launch, and engage with programs designed to build long-term brand loyalty, ensuring these digital touchpoints inform and elevate the overall product and member experience.

What

you’ll do
  • Lead experience strategy for Member’s Mark and trend-driven product development:
Shape how insights from members, markets, and competitors inform private brand creation and physical product decisions across Sam’s Club.
  • Define and evolve the experience that supports product creation:
Design end-to-end experiences that help merchants and partners discover trends, gather insights, evaluate opportunities, and make confident decisions—focusing on ways of working, not just systems.
  • Partner deeply with merchandising, brand, and analytics teams:
Work side-by-side with merchants, researchers, and data partners to translate qualitative and quantitative insights into clear direction for product development and brand strategy.
  • Drive concepting, ideation, and prototyping at a strategic level:
Lead teams through ambiguity by framing problems, exploring concepts, and rapidly prototyping experiences that test assumptions and clarify direction.
  • Embed research and analytics into decision-making:
Guide research strategy, synthesize findings from multiple sources, and ensure insights are actionable, credible, and directly connected to business and member outcomes.
  • Influence without relying on formal authority:
Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders by clearly communicating narratives grounded in insight, aligning diverse perspectives, and driving alignment on what to build and why.
  • Lead and develop design talent:
Manage and mentor a Senior UX Designer embedded on the team, setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and elevating craft, confidence, and impact.
  • Champion clarity in ambiguous spaces:
Help teams navigate change in processes, roles, and ways of working by focusing on the experience being delivered and the outcomes it enables.
What you’ll bring
  • Senior-level UX leadership experience, with a track record of influencing strategy and outcomes in complex, cross-functional environments.
  • Strong background in concepting, ideation, and problem framing, especially in early, ambiguous stages of work.
  • Experience partnering closely with research and analytics, translating insights into direction for product, brand, or experience strategy.
  • Understanding of private brands, branding research, or product trends—including how insights shape physical products and brand positioning.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, able to align executives, merchants, and partners around a shared vision.
  • Comfort operating beyond screens, designing experiences that include workflows, behaviors, decision-making, and collaboration.
  • People leadership experience, with the ability to coach, develop, and elevate designers embedded in business-facing teams.
  • A systems and experience mindset, focused on enabling better outcomes rather than delivering isolated artifacts.
Benefits and compensation
  • Health benefits include medical, vision, and dental coverage
  • Financial benefits include 401(k), stock purchase, and company-paid life insurance
  • Paid time off benefits include PTO, parental leave, family care leave, bereavement, jury duty, and voting. You will also receive PTO…
