SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor and supervision of the Controller Foreman, performs operation and maintenance of water storage and distribution system equipment throughout the City. Monitors and controls water pressures and water quality including chlorine residuals, water age, and storage tank turnover rates.

- Technology Knowledge: SCADA System, Executime, Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Meter AMI system, Esri products and BambooHR
- Assists in maintaining supervisory control over the City’s water distribution system via the SCADA system.
- Assists in monitoring and regulating the amount of water distributed throughout the water system while maintaining water quality in accordance with Federal, State, and City regulations related to public health.
- Assists in the operation and maintenance of the water distribution facilities including system pump stations and storage facilities.
- Collects water samples for monthly bacteriological monitoring as required by State and Federal agencies.
- Records adequate information pertaining to flows, pressures, residuals, and trends associated with treatment and distribution practices.
- Makes periodic rounds to all water pumping and storage facilities for inspection and preventative maintenance of facilities.
- Assists customers, engineers, and developers with water distribution information.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of safety procedures related to working with mechanical equipment.
- Ability to work safely alone or as part of a work group, to follow established safety procedures, and to recognize and report workplace safety hazards.
- Ability to use basic plumbing tools, climb ladders, and stand for long periods of time.
- Able and willing to work a rotational stand-by schedule and able to work overtime as needed.
- This position is considered a first responder in the event of a citywide emergency or disaster situation. During such an event, this position will respond and perform tasks that are assigned based on the need of the situation.
- Reporting relationships, work assignments, and work schedules may be subject to change in order to meet City needs or operational requirements. Attendance at work and the ability to get along with the public, supervisors, and co-workers are essential elements of this position. Other duties may be assigned.

Must also reside within a 30-minute radius of the Water Utilities Office in order to respond to emergencies that may arise.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two (2) to five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Possess or has the ability to obtain a Class IV Water Distribution Operator License
- Must possess and maintain a personal telephone for emergency call-outs
