About the Role

Henderson Engineers is seeking a Electrical Engineering Manager to lead one of our oldest and largest client lines. The role blends technical leadership and people management, managing a team of engineers and designers while delivering technical excellence and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field (mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural) preferred;
    High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 12 years of relevant progressive experience.
  • Expert knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards for a broad range of practices.
  • Working knowledge of earned value, contracts, and construction processes.
  • Working knowledge of Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering design software applicable to your discipline.
  • Demonstrated history of building trust‑based relationships and fostering collaboration.
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to lead with empathy and clarity.
  • Demonstrated interest in growing others through feedback, career guidance, and mentoring.
  • High technical aptitude; ability to learn, understand, and utilize systems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Team‑oriented and willing to function in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Adaptability to changing work environments, priorities, and organizational needs.
  • Ability to prioritize and direct multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
  • Additional certifications aligning with the relevant technical field (e.g., BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, RCDD, etc.).
  • Sustainability certifications (e.g., CDP, LEED, WELL, etc.) preferred.
  • Performance as an Engineer of Record preferred.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities Team Leadership & Development
  • Leads, manages, and mentors a team of discipline‑aligned engineers and designers within the assigned sector.
  • Acts as a hiring manager and career coach, attending interviews and providing performance feedback and guidance.
  • Participates in project scheduling meetings to ensure staff assignments match project scopes.
  • Provides direct, hands‑on coaching and conducts individualized meetings.
  • Assists sector leaders with establishing and implementing goals, policies, objectives, and standards.
  • Champions directives from technical and other leaders, facilitating upward feedback.
  • Collaborates cross‑functionally to manage project staff resources and discipline budgets.
  • Facilitates improvement of project and design quality through review processes and regular check‑ins.
  • Understands, teaches, and applies Henderson’s design guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Responsible for or delegates and oversees project coordination activities for the team.
  • Fosters a client‑centric mindset and approach.
  • Proactively shares information, updates, and suggestions for technical and process improvements.
Drafting & Design
  • Directs and oversees the preparation of simple to the most complex design documents, system layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications.
