Position Summary
Senior Director, Energy Strategy leads Walmart Energy’s strategic, financial, and capital planning. Holds the overall vision and aligns cross‑functional teams, ensuring executive priorities are delivered and acting as a chief thought partner to the Head of Walmart Energy. This is an onsite position based in Bentonville, Arkansas. Remote applicants are not considered.
What you’ll do- Set the strategic direction for Walmart Energy—lead AOP/LRP design, coordination, and delivery for all Energy segments.
- Own all executive approval and governance meetings, driving Walmart Energy strategy.
- Drive new business strategies, business case development, explore and advise on new partnerships and energy business models that benefit Walmart, customers and drive energy affordability.
- Own capital allocation strategies for Energy’s multi‑billion‑dollar portfolio; partner with Finance, Real Estate, and Supply Chain and greater Energy team to maximize value creation and ROI.
- Oversee the Director of Energy Strategy and broader strategy team in unifying the Energy narrative, tracking all key deliverables, and preparing high‑impact content for executive meetings and external stakeholders.
- Act as chief author and reviewer for white papers, business cases, and executive storytelling—ensuring clarity, rigor, and data integrity in all communications.
- Define and refine Energy performance metrics; drive the build‑out of reporting tools and dashboards to support data‑driven decisions at every level of the organization.
- Represent Energy in critical executive forums, board meetings, and external engagements; provide strategic counsel and follow‑up for sensitive topics and executive approvals.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams across E2E—including Realty, Supply Chain, Finance, Technology, and Legal to advance key Energy initiatives, unlock operational value, and deliver on Walmart’s zero‑emissions and resiliency goals.
- Maintain highest standards of discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality when handling sensitive or proprietary information.
- Extensive experience leading strategic planning, financial analysis, or capital project management within an energy, Fortune 500, or consulting environment.
- Deep financial and capital planning skills—AOP/LRP ownership, capital budgeting, ROI modeling, scenario planning, and investment prioritization.
- Proven success managing high‑performing teams and developing talent; demonstrated ability to lead through influence in a matrixed organization.
- Advanced analytical and data skills—able to define KPIs, construct executive dashboards, and translate complex financial concepts for senior audiences.
- Outstanding executive communication skills; strong writer and storyteller with experience drafting white papers, board‑level presentations, and business cases.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with a bias for action and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- High standards of professionalism, discretion, and integrity; experience managing confidential or sensitive deliverables.
- Track record of delivering results as a strategic thought partner to executive leadership; comfortable challenging assumptions and driving clarity in ambiguity.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPA, or related) strongly preferred.
The annual salary range is $130,000 – $260,000. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses, and equity participation (Stock).

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.
- 9–11 years of experience leading strategic partnerships, business development, or similar functions.
- Advanced degree (MBA, MPA, or related).
- Advanced financial and capital planning skills (AOP/LRP ownership, capital budgeting, ROI modeling, scenario planning).
- Track record of managing high‑performing teams and influencing in a matrixed environment.
- Expertise in executing cross‑functional initiatives, forming multi‑faced partner relationships.
- Experience in project management and data analysis, KPI definition, dashboard creation, and executive storytelling.
