Louis Gelder and Sons is a family owned equipment dealer serving agricultural, construction, and related industries. We provide equipment sales, service, and parts, and pride ourselves on building long term relationships with our customers through reliable service and knowledgeable support.
We are currently seeking a personable, motivated, and dependable Outside Sales Associate to join our sales team. You’d be dealing directly with the owners.
Position SummaryAs an Outside Sales Associate, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships within an assigned territory. This role involves on site customer visits, identifying new business opportunities, and helping customers find the right equipment solutions for their needs.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, understands equipment based industries, and values relationship driven sales.
Key Responsibilities- Make regular in person sales calls at customer farms and job sites.
- Identify prospective customers and develop new business opportunities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, and industry partners
- Sell, rent, or lease new and used equipment within your assigned territory
- Price equipment and assist with evaluating trade in values
- Maintain accurate customer records, call logs, quotes, and sales activity documentation
- Coordinate with internal office and service teams to ensure smooth sales processes
- Maintain working knowledge of equipment offerings, features, and applications
- Attend training sessions and sales meetings to stay current on products and promotions
- Provide on site demonstrations, inspections, and basic operational guidance as needed
- Assist with delivery coordination, setup, and customer orientation when required
- Maintain familiarity with available financing options and assist customers as needed
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Self motivated with the ability to manage time and territory independently
- Sales experience preferred (equipment, agricultural, or construction industries a plus)
- Mechanical aptitude or equipment knowledge strongly preferred
- Comfortable using computers, CRM systems, and sales reporting tools
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within assigned territory
- Prior experience in equipment, agricultural, or construction sales preferred
- Familiarity with machinery such as loaders, excavators, tractors, or related equipment is a plus
- Business, agriculture, or related education preferred but not required
- Ability to safely operate and demonstrate equipment
- Ability to mount/dismount equipment and assist with inspections
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds & carry 50 ft.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and squat for extended periods
