Position would require the candidate to be a W2 employee of Donatech.

US Citizenship/Permanent Resident Required.

Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Creo CAM, Solid Works, and Surf Cam preferred.
Core Competencies
  • Advanced 3D modeling and CAD software (Creo, Solid Works, Rhino).
  • Familiarity with industrial design principles and practices.
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary prototype environment.
  • Experience
    • 2 years in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary prototype or model shop environment.
    Education
    • Some college required.
    Computer Skills
    • Proficiency in Creo CAM, Solid Works, and Surf Cam preferred.
    • Use Google suite of programs.
    Key Responsibilities
  • Model Building & Prototype Development
    • Fabricate prototype components based on technical drawings, CAD data, or other design specifications, utilizing wood shop, metal shop, and rapid prototyping. Proficient in using the Google Workspace, including Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
    • Build both small‑scale and large‑scale models, ensuring all parts fit together and function as intended.
    • Assemble models using various techniques, including joining, molding, trimming, fasteners and finishing.
    • Ensure that models meet the required quality standards and accurately reflect the design concept.
    • Determine how to build models to be robust enough to withstand shipping domestically and internationally.
  • Machining & Equipment Operation
    • Operate a wide range of equipment commonly used in a model shop, including CNC machines, laser cutters, Roland printers, and other fabrication tools.
    • Perform CNC machining tasks on materials such as plastic, foam, acrylic, and others to create precise parts.
    • Use fabrication techniques to create parts and extruded aluminum structures as required by the prototype design.
    • Utilize additive manufacturing (3D printing) for rapid prototyping and model iteration.
    • Operate and maintain equipment such as CNC mills, lathes, lasers, and 3D printers, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
  • Material Handling & Inventory Management
    • Maintain accurate inventory levels of materials such as plastics, foams, acrylics, sheet metal, and other supplies.
    • Assist with the ordering, storage, and organization of materials to ensure availability when needed.
    • Manage and track the use of consumables and ensure proper storage and handling of all materials.
  • Maintenance & Equipment Care
    • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on equipment and machines to ensure optimal performance.
    • Troubleshoot and repair minor issues with machinery and tools to avoid downtime and production delays.
    • Ensure all tools and equipment are properly calibrated and maintained to meet project specifications.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Work closely with designers, engineers and other shop personnel to ensure designs are accurately translated into physical models.
    • Communicate project timelines, challenges, and progress with the team to ensure smooth operations.
    • Provide feedback and suggestions to improve the model-making process or equipment usage.
  • Quality Control & Final Assembly
    • Inspect finished models and parts for accuracy, quality, and functionality, making adjustments or corrections as needed.
    • Ensure all models are finished to a high standard, including sanding, painting, polishing, or other surface treatments.
    • Test the functionality of assembled prototypes to ensure they meet design specifications and are ready for presentation or further development.
  • Health & Safety Compliance
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines in the workshop, ensuring safe handling of equipment, materials, and tools.
    • Wear appropriate PPE and follow best practices to minimize risks while operating machinery or handling hazardous materials.
    • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment by regularly tidying workstations and properly disposing of waste.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience with advanced 3D modeling and CAD software (e.g., Creo, Solid Works).
    • Familiarity with industrial design principles and practices.
    • Previous experience in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary prototype or model shop environment.
